Firing by all air defence system weapons system was culminating event of 2 weeks long exercise Al Bayza-2019, confirms ISPR press release-12/2019.
The firing capability was witnessed by Chief of Army staff, Gen. Bajwa and Chief of Air staff Air Marshal Mujahid Anwar along with many other senior military officers .
Both chiefs hailed the inclusion of newly inducted weapon, highlighting the boost in the over all air defence capability.
“LY-80 has greatly enhanced air defence cap of Army Air Def while strengthening it at National level along with PAF the overall custodian of the defence of Pakistan air space”, says COAS.
Meadium range surface-to-air defense missile system, LY-80 (also known as HQ16A), was produced by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp (CASC) and was first inducted in the Chinese armed forces in September 2011.
Being equipped with advanced technology, these missiles are capable to perform in any environment of strong electro magnetic waves interruptipn and can be operated under any weather condition.
